Viessmann Boiler Fault Code F4: A Facilities Buyer's 5-Step Troubleshooting Checklist

Between 60 and 80 purchase orders cross my desk every year—or rather, last year it was closer to 75, and plenty of them were "please fix this equipment" requests. I'm not a technician. Step 1: Write the fault code down before touching anything

The first time our building's boiler threw a fault, I pressed reset immediately and lost the only evidence that mattered. On a modern boiler, the display tells you what the system thinks is wrong. A photo of that display helps even more: technicians trust evidence, and it saves an hour of "what was the code again?"

The first question any technician will ask is "What code is on the display?" If it's a Viessmann boiler, you'll likely see something like F4.
